Festive Gin Cocktails

December 15, 2020

With the silly season drawing near, it’s time to think about your Festive menu and most importantly, the epic Death Gin cocktails you’ll be serving!!

Given most of us have been in lockdown for what feels like the entirety of 2020, we encourage you to go all out and lift your cocktail game.

Here are some of our favourites that are sure to impress your festive guests!

Christmas Bramble

This is a crowd-pleaser – the zingy citrus, sweet and tart berries along with the freshness of mint is sure to make folks smile.

The Bramble was created in London in the 1980’s by a guy called ‘Dick’ who felt nostalgic about blackberrying in his childhood on the Isle of Wight.

Ingredients

  • 45ml of Death Gin
  • 30ml lemon juice
  • 30ml blackberry liqueur (we recommend Marionette Mure)
  • 1 cup crushed ice
  • Garnish: Blackberries, dehydrated citrus and mint

Instructions

Combine the ingredients in a shaker with lots of ice cubes and shake like mad.

Grab a chilled Old Fashioned Glass and strain approximately 30mls from your shaker into the glass.

Add crushed ice into an Old Fashioned glass.

Pour over the remaining liquid in your shaker, add crushed ice and garnish with blackberries, dehydrated citrus and a mint sprig.

Watermelon Merrymint

Fresh, bright and summery – this screams Aussie Christmas! Watermelon is one of the most hydrating foods you can eat, so this should take care of you on a hot summer day.

Best of all, if you have a large jug, you won’t have to leave the dining table or poolside – just add a straw! (Or share it with others, we guess).

Ingredients

  • 45ml Death Gin
  • 10ml Simple syrup
  • 30ml Tonic water (we recommend Capi Dry Tonic)
  • 1/2 cup of cold watermelon cubes
  • 4 fresh lime wheels
  • 6 mint leaves slapped

Instructions

In your preferred glass, combine gin, simple syrup, half of your watermelon cubes, 2 lime wheels and 3 mint leaves with lots of ice and gently stir with a cocktail spoon.

Top up with tonic water and use the remainder of your watermelon cubes and mint leaves to garnish.

Note: You can make a whole jug of this… simply quadruple your quantities… but don’t forget to gently stir so that your layers blend well.

Festive Thyme Fizz

Let’s face it, it’s not Christmas if you don’t have copious amounts of sparkling wine in the fridge, right?

Sweet, crisp and bubbly… Even your Aunt Gladys will be taking several helpings!

Ingredients

  • 20ml Death Gin
  • 20ml Mango puree
  • 60ml Australian Sparkling Wine
  • Garnish: Fresh thyme, Aunt Gladys probably has some growing in her garden

Instructions

Combine your gin and mango puree into a mixing glass with ice and stir.

Strain into a Champagne flute and top with Australian Sparkling Wine.

Add your thyme garnish and sip sip sip away!
